Donation Funds Training School

Located 45 minutes north of Charlotte, North Carolina, in Troutman,
the school operates rent-free in a facility owned by Moulder
Services (Rankin’s machine rebuild, maintenance, and repair
company). Nicknamed the Moulder Doctor™ by customer Milton-Bradley,
PhD candidate Rankin began The Grinderman’s Association
four years ago in order to help educate others. In addition
to teaching training classes at the school, the organization
continually educates operators and maintenance technicians via
six newsletters it sends out each year.
In addition to receiving free use of Moulder Services’
facility, most of the school’s equipment is donated and
all the instructors volunteer their time. "The association
has no employees," says Rankin. "Tuition simply covers
overhead of operations."
The school is primarily supported by its "Partners in Education"—companies
like Glen Oak Lumber & Milling, who make cash donations
or payment-in-kind contributions of lumber product, machines,
and tooling. In addition to a tax deduction, the school’s
"Partners" may have some of their own products featured
in a special Moulder Services catalog. Proceeds from the catalog
sales benefit the school.
