2005 Wisconsin Entrepreneur Of The Year Finalist

Glen Oak Lumber & Milling, Inc. was honored as a Wisconsin Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist at an awards gala at the Midwest Airlines Center Auditorium in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 16, 2005. The black tie event was the 19th annual Entrepreneur of the Year Awards program produced by Ernst & Young, LLP, which recognizes the nation's top companies and the owner(s)/manager(s) primarily responsible for their performance.

An independent panel of judges comprised of successful business leaders and educators conducted a thorough assessment of Glen Oak and its founder & CEO Tom Talbot—comparing the company's financial performance, growth, leadership, profitability, strategic direction, innovation, personal integrity, values and originality to that of other top companies and executives in the state. A privately-held company headquartered in central Wisconsin, Glen Oak was a finalist in the Commercial Manufacturing & Distribution category—a highly competitive field in which Badger State Ethanol, an innovative producer of fuel-grade ethanol sold world-wide for "flexible fuel" vehicles, earned top honors.

Attendees at the awards gala learned about Glen Oak and the 15 other finalists via video biographies. Members of Glen Oak's management team from its Wisconsin, Kentucky and Atlanta facilities attended the ceremony with Talbot and his family. Talbot credits the entire Glen Oak organization with the company's success. Following his entrepreneurial lead, the 350-member Glen Oak team continually explores innovative ideas which set new standards in the industries it serves. Glen Oak's high-quality mouldings, boards, jambs, stair parts, shutter components, specialty-shape shutters, wood shavings and more are marketed nationwide, netting annual sales revenues of $100 million.
