Wisconsin Entrepreneur Of The Year Finalist
Glen Oak Lumber & Milling, Inc. was honored as a Wisconsin
Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist at an awards gala at the
Midwest Airlines Center Auditorium in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
on June 16, 2005. The black tie event was the 19th annual
Entrepreneur of the Year Awards program produced by Ernst
& Young, LLP, which recognizes the nation's top companies
and the owner(s)/manager(s) primarily responsible for their
performance.
An independent panel of judges comprised of successful business
leaders and educators conducted a thorough assessment of Glen
Oak and its founder & CEO Tom Talbotcomparing the
company's financial performance, growth, leadership, profitability,
strategic direction, innovation, personal integrity, values
and originality to that of other top companies and executives
in the state. A privately-held company headquartered in central
Wisconsin, Glen Oak was a finalist in the Commercial Manufacturing
& Distribution categorya highly competitive field
in which Badger State Ethanol, an innovative producer of fuel-grade
ethanol sold world-wide for "flexible fuel" vehicles,
earned top honors.
Attendees at the awards gala learned about Glen Oak and the
15 other finalists via video biographies. Members of Glen
Oak's management team from its Wisconsin, Kentucky and Atlanta
facilities attended the ceremony with Talbot and his family.
Talbot credits the entire Glen Oak organization with the company's
success. Following his entrepreneurial lead, the 350-member
Glen Oak team continually explores innovative ideas which
set new standards in the industries it serves. Glen Oak's
high-quality mouldings, boards, jambs, stair parts, shutter
components, specialty-shape shutters, wood shavings and more
are marketed nationwide, netting annual sales revenues of
$100 million.
