American
Louvered Products Co. President Awarded Expo Trip Prize By
Exhibitor Glen Oak Lumber & Milling
April 4, 2002: The 2002 International Window
Coverings Expo was enjoyed by all, particularly John Saunders,
president of American Louvered Products Co., a wood shutters
manufacturer in Tampa, Florida. Saunders attended the 20th
annual trade show as Glen Oak Lumber & Millings
guest and winner of the companys prize drawing for a
free trip to the 2002 Expo in Baltimore, Maryland March 22-24.
Saunders, who had planned on attending even before winning
the trip, used his good fortune to treat additional guests
of his own to the show. American Louvered Products customers
Brad Hall and Kathryn Gadoury of The Blind Factory (Lakeland,
FL), and prospective shutter dealer Mike Hayes of Hayes Painting
and Restoration (Doylestown, PA), joined Saunders, his wife
Sissy, and American Louvered Products Sales and Customer Service
Manager Cam Whipple at the IWCE.
We had a great time, John Saunders relates. The
retail customer I took with me is very diversified and found
the show to be very, very goodhe saw a lot of new fabrics.
It was an eye-opening educational experience for my brother-in-law
Mike, who is considering complementing his existing business
with a shutter dealership, Saunders continues. I
enjoyed meeting with Glen Oak and Tom (Talbot, Glen Oak CEO)
and reconnected with a couple of companies I had talked to
at the New Orleans show. Im very glad that I went again
this year; it allowed me to see whats happening in the
marketplace.
Glen Oak Lumber & Milling, used the show to debut its
Arrow-Straight F.J. poplar shutter components.
A first-time exhibitor at the International Window Coverings
Expo, the hardwood millwork manufacturer and its products
were well received, according to Glen Oak CEO Tom Talbot.
Judging from the overwhelming response we received from
shutter fabricators at the show, we have successfully reset
the industry standard for shutter component quality and changed
peoples opinions about finger-jointed shutter parts.
